OSIRIS-REx: Asteroid Sample Collection

In October 2020, NASA's OSIRIS-REx spacecraft successfully collected samples from the surface of asteroid Bennu. The probe executed a touch-and-go maneuver, briefly making contact with the asteroid to gather regolith and rock fragments.

After the collection, the spacecraft safely stored the sample in its return capsule. The material is expected to arrive on Earth for scientific analysis, offering insights into the early solar system and the building blocks of planets.
